Safety Overview

Safety & Security

Safety always comes before fun at Camp Wildside. We are extremely proud of our excellent safety record and are committed to upholding it.
Here's how we ensure your child's safety:

1
Our mentors at Camp Wildside are meticulously chosen, thoroughly trained, and consistently evaluated to ensure the highest standards of safety and care. With numerous applications received daily, only the most qualified candidates are selected for training. This comprehensive training covers First Aid and CPR, emergency medication administration, child psychology, teaching practices, and safety protocols. Even after passing rigorous exams, a mandatory apprenticeship period is required for final qualification. To maintain our standards, we conduct regular health and safety checks on all staff.
2
A cornerstone of our safety protocols at Camp Wildside is a strict rule: no two individuals are e alone together. No child is allowed to be alone with another child or a mentor. Should a camper need to return to their cabin, they must be accompanied by at least two people, including their cabin mentor.

Our Health Centre at Camp Wildside is professionally designed and managed by a qualified on-site nurse, equipped for routine medical care and medication administration. All our mentors hold certifications in CPR and First Aid. Additionally, we ensure a doctor is available on call 24/7. The nearest private hospital is conveniently located just 5 minutes away, ensuring swift access to advanced medical services if needed.
5
At Camp Wildside, entering any pool or water body requires stringent supervision. Each water activity is monitored by at least three mentors, including two who are qualified lifeguards and EFR First Aid Responders. Additionally, one mentor is always in the water alongside the children to ensure their safety and security.
6
At Camp Wildside, we prioritise pool and swimming safety education for every camper. Your child will learn about water currents, sand banks, pool etiquette, and how to identify potential risks. We implement the Buddy System to enhance safety: before entering any body of water, each child is paired with a buddy. These buddies are instructed to stay close and watch over each other. Regular buddy checks are conducted—when a lifeguard signals with three whistles, all campers must exit the water and regroup with their buddies.
7
Every camper at Camp Wildside undergoes a mandatory three-part swim test upon arrival. Based on the results, they are issued color-coded armbands that indicate their swimming capabilities. These armbands determine how deep they can go into the water, their designated swimming areas, and the level of supervision required. Additionally, these armbands help in easily identifying our campers, enhancing both safety and community spirit.
8
At Camp Wildside, we enforce rigorous protocols to prevent sunburn and dehydration. Each camper is required to carry a day bag equipped with sunscreen, a water bottle, and a hat. Mentors routinely check these bags to ensure compliance and remind campers to reapply sunscreen and hydrate regularly. Additionally, every mentor leading off-property activities is equipped with a First Aid Kit, which is meticulously inspected and replenished twice daily to ensure readiness for any situation.
